Membership
Membership in the Building Seismic Safety Council (BSSC) of the National Institute of Building Sciences gives you access to a council whose members are dedicated to reducing earthquake risk by principally generating the NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions for New Buildings and Other Structures and related publications. The members actively participate in the consensus process that eventually results in improved building codes.
BSSC members come from all areas of professional practice, government, and academia. They are leading engineers, scientists, and architects committed to strengthening the buildings against earthquakes.
The membership of the Council is open to all professional societies, and labor, trade, model code, voluntary standards, public interest, and public agency organizations which have an interest in the Council's purpose. Organizations not meeting these requirements but are interested in pursuing the purpose and objectives of the Council may submit an application for non-voting affiliate membership. Affiliate membership is also open to companies and corporations.
