NEHRP/PUC Recommended Future Issues and Research Needs (September, 2021)

As part of its efforts to regularly update the NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions for New Buildings and Other Structures, the Building Seismic Safety Council (BSSC) is charged by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to identify and recommend issues to be addressed and research needed to advance the state of the art of earthquake-resistant design and to serve as the basis for future refinement of the Provisions. During the project to generate the 2020 edition of the Provisions, the various Issue Teams and Study Groups that assisted with the development of proposals for the Provisions Update Committee (PUC) and Member Organization ballots identified specific items that were beyond the scope of the 2020 Provisions update. These were assembled and edited by an Oversight Committee led by PUC members Kelly Cobeen and S.K. Ghosh.
