Carl Hedde

Mr. Hedde is the Principal of CGH Consulting, LLC, an organization founded to provide strategic consulting services to organizations focused on Catastrophe Risk Mitigation and Risk Transfer strategies. He has dedicated his professional career to the study of catastrophic risk analysis methodologies that promote efficient resilience, risk mitigation and risk transfer strategies.

Mr. Hedde retired from Munich Reinsurance Company as SVP, Head of Risk Accumulation. In this role, he managed the Risk Accumulation Department, which included the catastrophe management, risk accumulation and geo research functions within the US operation of Munich. Currently, Mr. Hedde serves as the Insurance Practice Head at One Concern, a California based organization dedicated to using artificial intelligence and machine learning to better understand inter-dependency risk from natural perils.

Mr. Hedde received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the State University of New York – Albany and holds the CPCU Designation. He has over 40 years' experience in the insurance industry. He has served as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS) and is a founding Board Member and Chair of the International Society of Catastrophe Managers (ISCM). He currently serves as the Board Chair of the National Institute for Building Science (NIBS).

Dr. G. Scott Earnest

Scott Earnest is Acting Director for the Office of Construction Safety and Health at NIOSH. Prior to joining the Office of Construction Safety and Health, Scott was Engineering Branch Chief in the NIOSH, Division of Applied Research and Technology from 2005-2015. Scott has over 70 peer reviewed publications and technical reports. He began his career as an active duty, commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers. He is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in industrial and mechanical engineering.

Thomas H. Phoenix

Thomas Phoenix is a Principal with CPL Architects & Engineers in their office in Greensboro, NC (formerly Moser Mayer Phoenix Associates). He has a B.S. degree in engineering from NC State University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in North Carolina and six other States and has over 35 years of experience in the design, operation and maintenance of building mechanical and energy systems in commercial, educational, government, and medical office facilities.

Mr. Phoenix has been an active member of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers) since 1982, and was elevated to the grade of Fellow in 2011. He is an ASHRAE Presidential Member, having served as Society President in 2014-15. He served on ASHRAE's Board of Directors for 11 years and has chaired the Publishing and Education Council and numerous ASHRAE committees. Mr. Phoenix is also an ASHRAE Certified Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP), and a Certified Building Energy Assessment Professional (BEAP). He is an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer and is a Trustee of the ASHRAE Foundation.

Mr. Phoenix currently serves as Chair of the Advanced Energy Design Guides Steering Committee, which is composed of representatives from ASHRAE, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES), and the US Green Building Council (USGBC). He also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS).

Mr. Phoenix is active in his local community. He is a graduate of Leadership Greensboro, a member of the Leadership Greensboro Alumni Association and a past member of the Board of Trustees for the Greensboro Children's Museum. He is a Charter Member and Past President of the Gate City Rotary Club. He served as a Committee Chairman for the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic for Cancer Research for 19 years and was a leader with local Boy Scouts of America Troop 101. He is married to the former Rebecca Champion, and he and Becky have two children.

Peter DeMarco

Pete DeMarco is the Executive Vice President of Advocacy and Research for the IAPMO Group. His responsibilities include oversight of IAPMO's government relations department, water efficiency and green building initiatives, standards development activities, domestic and international plumbing programs, industry outreach programs and development of research projects relating to water efficiency.

Pete is the founder of the Plumbing Efficiency Research Coalition (PERC), an organization dedicated to conducting research pertaining to plumbing systems in consideration of the emerging trends towards lower water consuming plumbing fixtures and appliances. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE) and previously served on the Board of Directors and on the Executive Committee for the Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI).

Henry Chamberlain directs BOMA International's staff in support of the association's 87 U.S. local associations, BOMA Canada and its 11 regional associations, and 17 BOMA international affiliates. Prior to joining BOMA, he was director of communications for the Gannett Company during the launch phase of the Nation's Newspaper   USA TODAY. He began his career in Washington working in the press office of a national presidential campaign.

Chamberlain is a member of The Real Estate Roundtable, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100, American Society of Association Executives, and the National Capital Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. He serves on the Careers Building Communities Steering Committee. Chamberlain is a graduate of the University of Vermont.

Daniel Nichols, PE

Dan is a fire protection engineer currently employed as the Assistant Director of Fire/Life Safety for Metro-North Railroad (MTA) Office of System Safety in New York, overseeing the fire prevention program for the 2,700 mile service territory throughout NY and CT that converges on Grand Central Terminal in midtown Manhattan. He has over 25 years of diverse experience in the fire protection and building safety disciplines highlighted by nearly 20 years in the ICC and NFPA development processes, 12 years as a Chief officer of a suburban volunteer fire department, certified fire investigator, instructor on construction codes, and past work experience in fire protection systems and as the NY State technical leader for code variances and interpretations.
