
Kristin Schmehl serves as the Project Management Administrator for the National Institute of Building Sciences. In this role, she supports the Technical and Government Solutions team and assists the program and project managers with administrative functions and processes so that they can ensure their projects are delivered on time and with great quality.
Schmehl comes to NIBS with over 15 years of experience working in both the federal government and private sector. She began her career at the Smithsonian Institution, where she coordinated educational programs for members and the public. She then moved over to Capitol Hill and spent nearly a decade working for the Architect of the Capitol, a Legislative Branch agency responsible for the care, preservation, and maintenance of the U.S. Capitol complex. In this role, Schmehl provided high-level administrative support to the head of the agency and managed the day-to-day operations of the front office. She also assisted with congressional relations initiatives.
Most recently, Schmehl served in several program coordination roles in higher education, including at George Mason University, where she supported an online graduate program, and at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, working under the Department of Science Education to assist with the implementation of a mentorship training program. Schmehl holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Dickinson College.
