National Institute of Building Sciences President & CEO Joins U.S. Green Building Council Board

This is the first time the National Institute of Building Sciences has joined the USGBC board of directors

(WASHINGTON, DC, Aug. 22, 2019) – National Institute of Building Sciences President and CEO Lakisha Ann Woods has joined the U.S. Green Building Council board of directors.

Woods joins three other newly-elected board members to the council.

“I’m pleased to have a seat at the table of the U.S. Green Building Council,” says Lakisha A. Woods, CAE, President and CEO of NIBS. “This is a big opportunity to represent the interests of the greater building community and the government representatives who have charged us with creating the space to find sustainable solutions and to construct safe, affordable housing and commercial structures.”

A spokesperson with USGBC says the National Institute of Building Sciences is a new addition to the board.

“We’ve not had anyone from NIBS serve on our board before, and we’re very excited about the opportunities this presents to forge a stronger relationship between our organizations,” said Jennifer K. Druliner, vice president of governance with USGBC.

In its announcement, USGBC says the new board members were selected for their “deep expertise and broad experience in business and market development, organizational strategy and innovation, and nonprofit governance, as well as in sustainability and the built environment.”

In addition to Woods, the new board members include Dan McQuade, McQuade Consulting; Karen Weigert, Vice President, Business Strategy and Regional Operations, Slipstream; and Doug Woods, Co-Founder, DPR Construction. The council also just appointed Dr. Aaron Bernstein, associate director with Harvard University’s Center for Health and the Global Environment, as the new board chair.
