Shelby Hoffmann

Junior Design integration Engineer

NIBS

Shelby graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, where she developed a strong foundation in structural design, construction, and sustainable infrastructure. Throughout her time at West Point, she conducted two years of research focused on sustainable concrete materials and construction practices, contributing to efforts that explored innovative approaches to improve the performance and sustainability of concrete infrastructure. She further expanded this research through an internship with the Georgia Institute of Technology, collaborating with faculty and researchers on sustainable concrete initiatives.

In addition to her research experience, Shelby served as the Mix Designer for West Point’s American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Concrete Canoe Team. In this role, she developed and optimized lightweight concrete mix designs that balanced strength, durability, workability, and buoyancy while supporting the team’s engineering design and competition objectives.
