Robert L. Howard is President of Howard Building Science and a nationally recognized expert in building science, sustainable technology, energy-efficient construction, and affordable housing. With more than two decades of experience spanning construction, consulting, education, and clean energy initiatives, he has worked extensively with builders, architects, engineers, utilities, government agencies, and housing organizations to advance high-performance building practices.
In addition to leading his consulting and contracting firm, Howard serves as a Lecturer at Appalachian State University, where he teaches building science courses and advises student teams focused on sustainable design and energy innovation. His career has included leadership roles with Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC, Habitat for Humanity, and numerous residential construction and energy-efficiency programs.
Howard holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Technology with a concentration in Building Science from Appalachian State University. He has earned numerous industry certifications and has served on a wide range of professional, code-development, housing, and energy-efficiency boards and committees, contributing to the advancement of resilient, sustainable, and attainable housing solutions nationwide
