Michele Mihelic is Senior Director, Provisions & Standards at the National Institute of Building Sciences, where she focuses on standards development and building science research. She brings over 25 years of experience in regulatory affairs, technical standards, and policy across the built environment, renewable energy, and construction sectors.
Previously, she led codes and standards, climate, and resilience policy at the American Institute of Architects, spanning building and energy codes, embodied carbon, electrification, and federal regulatory engagement. At the American Clean Power Association, she built an ANSI-accredited standards program and managed technical portfolios covering environmental health and safety, operations and maintenance, quality assurance, and workforce development for the utility-scale wind, solar, and storage industry. Earlier in her career, she worked in construction safety at the Associated General Contractors and in disability and workforce policy. She holds a BS in Public Policy from Penn State.
