Scott R. Pollack is an urban planning and design leader with nearly four decades of experience shaping large-scale planning and architectural projects across the United States. A longtime partner at Arrowstreet Architects, Scott has led master planning, housing, retail, hospitality, and commercial life sciences work, with a particular focus on innovation, policy, and quality-of-life outcomes. His work spans public and private sectors, including planning efforts for the U.S. Department of Defense, the National Park Service, and retail, life sciences, and housing.
After retiring from architectural practice in 2022, Scott founded SRPlanning, where he focuses on writing about the future of planning, housing, and reconsider planning in an ever-changing world and evolving approaches that start with people and outcomes rather than facilities. He works on subjects ranging from the future of installations, the use of data in understanding communities as complex adaptive systems, and AI- and data-enabled systemic approaches to quality of life, Scott, working with a broad range of other consultants, helps clients deploy limited resources to achieve the greatest impact through systemic thinking to flexibly get people what they need, where and when they need it.
Scott is an advisor to AritexAI and an active civic leader. He serves as Co‑Chair of the Housing Roundtable for the Urban Land Institute (ULI) New England, contributes to ULI’s Housing Simulator and Real Estate Advisory Committee, and is Board Chair of Opportunities Corporation. A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he holds both a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Design and a Master of Architecture.
