Steve DeVito is the Director of Technology at Procon Consulting, where he leads research and development at the intersection of robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital delivery for the built environment. His work focuses on reality-based digital twins, computer vision, and multi-agent robotic systems that enable continuous, remote inspection and progress monitoring for complex facilities and infrastructure; helping owners, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction turn rich site data into faster, safer, and more transparent decisions. Steve oversees Procon’s innovation partnerships, including the Procon Innovation Center at Virginia Tech’s Myers-Lawson School of Construction, where students and researchers use advanced robotics and 3D technologies to prototype new construction automation and inspection workflows. He has helped federal and institutional clients implement Project Management Information Systems, BIM, GIS, and emerging AI-powered tools to streamline processes like permitting, inspections, and lifecycle facility management while maintaining rigorous compliance and public trust. Based in Asheville, North Carolina, Steve enjoys time in the mountains with his family and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of AEC innovators through applied research, lab collaboration, and real-world pilot projects that bring cutting-edge technology into everyday project delivery.
